The Trafford Centre

Covering an area equivalent to 30 football pitches, The Trafford Centre is the largest shopping centre in the United Kingdom by overall size (including leisure and dining space) and the second largest by retail size. The Centre opened in September 1998 after a 27-month construction and fit-out programme costing £600 million. The Centre attracts 35 million visits annually. At the peak of steel erection 18 cranes were on site, with 1,175 Tonnes erected in a single week.
