William Hare Group welcomes new majority shareholder to support future growth

Global leader in engineered steel solutions, William Hare Group has been acquired by entrepreneur Simon Orange.

The deal marks a new chapter for the business which was established in 1945 at the end of the Second World War by Bartle Hodgkiss, William Hare’s son in law.

Headquartered in Bury, William Hare Group employs c.2,000 people and has nine UK sites, as well as operations in Europe, the UAE and India.

The organisation is a leader in engineered and fabricated steel solutions across infrastructure, industry and transport, nuclear, energy, retail, sports and leisure, mining and metal processing, and commercial office buildings.

William Hare Group has been involved in some of the UK’s most significant building and infrastructure projects including Hinkley Point C Nuclear Power Station, Battersea Power Station, several HS2 Bridges, The Royal Opera House, 40 Leadenhall and 20 Fenchurch Street (The Walkie Talkie Building).

The deal further cements the long term stability and future of the business, offering the market a clear sign of its ambitions under a single majority shareholder to continue to offer leading structural and engineered steel solutions.

William Hare’s existing management team, including CEO Susan Hodgkiss will continue to lead the business, with Simon offering support and guidance as the group looks to support its clients' ambitious projects.

Following the acquisition, William Hare is continuing its sector leading work in the UK built environment from state-of-the-art office buildings in London to stadium expansions in the North West and supporting national infrastructure projects.
