The Project:
William Hare were employed to provide engineering, procurement, and construction services for a refining and petrochemical manufacturing plant. This facility forms part of the largest refining and petrochemicals platform of one the worlds leading chemical companies. The development of this plant significantly increased production capacity of a core chemical used in many products by leveraging the abundant and inexpensive supply of local raw materials. WHL successfully completed this project towards the end of 2020.
WHL Scope & Delivery Method:
Scope included connection design to AISC, detailing, material supply, galvanising, Intumescent paint for Jet and Pool fire, export packaging and all fasteners. There were also a number of bought out packages including crane rails, davits and grating. Between both packages approximately 720 Te of grating was delivered from the UAE.
The project was managed and engineered by WHL UAE, India and UK with all steelwork fabricated by WH UAE. A major feature of the project was the pre-assembly (by the client team) of modules in excess of 2000 Te before dispatch from UAE. These modules included the fitting out of electrical and mechanical equipment – in addition to the steelwork.
Self Propelled Modular Transporters (SPMTs) were used to transport the huge modules onto Roll Dock Vessels for the 5,000km+ journey to the project site.
