Hat-trick of Safety Awards

William Hare has won its third major award for its Health and Safety in a matter of a few weeks. This latest award comes from The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) who have awarded William Hare with its Gold Award for Occupational Health and Safety.

The award follows the announcement of an International Safety Award from The British Safety Council and an ECIA Safe Working Award, both of which were announced earlier in March.

The RoSPA Safety Awards are internationally recognised and have fast become the most sought-after accolade by organisations from every sector. The awards are judged on three main criteria:

  • Measure of occupational health and safety management ‘input’ such as the level of development of systems and culture
  • Measures of health and safety management ‘output’ such as consistent application of risk control measures; and measures of ‘outcome’ such as reductions in near misses, notifiable injuries, the number of days lost, accident and ill health costs etc
  • Entrant’s enforcement record across a broad range of KPI, not just lost time accident rates.

The Award will be presented as part of the Safety and Health Expo 2014 which is being held at London’s ExCeL Centre in June 2014.

Commenting on the triple award Brian Hughes, William Hare’s Director of Health, Safety & Environment noted: These awards all come from very well-respected organisations and makes all at WHL proud of the fantastic progress we are making. While we are pleased by the recognition, we will nevertheless continue to strive to further improve our performance.
