William Hare signs Armed Forces Covenant
NewsWilliam Hare Group is proud to have signed the Armed Forces Covenant, demonstrating the business’ commitment to supporting Armed Forces Community. By making this pledge, the business also recognises the contribution that Service personnel, both regular and reservist, veterans and military families make to our organisation, community and country.
We recognise that our Armed Forces personnel fulfil a responsibility on behalf of the Government, often sacrificing civilian freedoms, facing danger and, sometimes, suffering serious injury or death as a result of their duty. In turn, they deserve our respect, support, and fair treatment both in the workplace and beyond.
By signing the Armed Forces Covenant, William Hare Group pledges that those who serve in the Armed Forces, whether regular or reserve face no disadvantage compared to other citizens and employees, and in some cases, special provisions may be made - especially for those who have been left injured or bereaved as a result of their time in service.
As part of our pledge, we promise to support the Armed Forces community by offering employment opportunities, training programmes and granting additional leave in some circumstances to ensure duties and training can be fulfilled. William Hare has also appointed an Armed Forces Champion to act as a focal point for organising and promoting support for the Armed Forces community and to provide feedback on how operations can be improved across the wider business.
Some of these initiatives include offering work placements and insight days to Veterans, cadets and those soon to leave the service who want to learn more about the manufacturing and construction, to support their employment search. Additionally, William Hare Group pledges to offer a guaranteed job interview to anyone who has left the services in the last 12 months, if they sufficiently meet the essential criteria of the role applied for.
With regards to recruitment, we work with organisations including the Career Transition Partnership (CTP) and use the online recruitment portal Ministry Of Defence CTP to support the employment of service leavers.
Meanwhile, as part of our pledge, we will continue to support annual days of commemoration, such as Remembrance Day and the Poppy Appeal, as well as continuing to promote the fact that we are an Armed Forces-friendly organisation to our employees, clients, suppliers, contractors and wider public.
